Leigh-Anne has been supporting Baby Steps families as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) since 2019. With over 20 years’ experience working with breastfeeding families overseas and in Australia, Leigh-Anne values a calm and gentle approach to helping women make breastfeeding work for them.

She is a Registered Midwife and Nurse and holds master’s degrees in midwifery as well as advanced midwifery and neonatal nursing. Her path to Australian registration has taken her through Perth Children’s Hospital NICU, Royal Perth and King Edward where she now works as a midwife.

A decade of working as an independent midwife in South Africa taught her the value of continuity of care, working with women through pregnancy, birth and beyond. Several families became repeat visitors, and for one family she was blessed to catch all three of their babies. It’s this connection with mothers and babies that drew Leigh-Anne to train and volunteer as a Breastfeeding Counsellor with the Australian Breastfeeding Association when emigrating to Australia in 2012. She still volunteers her time on the Breastfeeding Helpline and serves as the Assistant Branch President for the ABA WA Branch.

Leigh-Anne loves supporting women as they find their way as mothers. Her three girls think she’s only in it for the baby cuddles!
