Upskill & Learn
Practical Education for Everyday Practice
At Baby Steps, education is part of our culture.
We believe clinicians feel most confident when learning is ongoing, relevant, and connected to real patients and real practice.
Our professional development programs focus on areas where knowledge, compassion, and collaboration make the biggest difference for families.
Training Focus Areas
Our education sessions and online learning opportunities support GPs, specialist and allied health professionals across a range of family and child health topics, including:
- Early parenting and newborn care
- Breastfeeding and infant feeding medicine
- Eczema, food allergies, and sleep health
- Child development and neurodivergence
- Parent mental health and family wellbeing
These programs are designed to be practical, case-based, and clinically relevant — helping you translate new learning directly into patient care.
How We Deliver Training
Education Evenings — Open to the Medical Community
Baby Steps hosts regular education evenings for GPs, specialists, and allied health professionals across the wider medical community.
These sessions are relaxed, evidence-based, and practical — focused on sharing insights in child health, early development, and family care.
They’re an opportunity to connect with peers, update your knowledge, and strengthen referral pathways — all in an environment designed for learning and collaboration.
And there’s always food and drinks.
If you’d like to get on the email list to be invited to our education events, you can sign up here.
Clinical Training Program — For GPs Working Within Baby Steps
GPs who practise from Baby Steps receive a more structured and immersive learning experience through our Clinical Training Program.
This program mirrors the education provided to our in-house doctors and is designed to build deep, applied expertise in developmental and family medicine.
Training includes:
- Two half-day one-on-one sessions with Dr Levitt
- Weekly one-hour education sessions with ongoing mentorship
- The opportunity to work alongside Dr Leon Levitt during the first few weeks — allowing for real-time discussion, observation, and shared case reflection
This model blends learning and practice — building confidence, clinical reasoning, and consistency in the care of babies, children, and families.
Training for Your Practice
Our education team also visits external medical and allied health practices to deliver tailored in-house training. These sessions are ideal for groups who want to deepen their expertise in child health, early development, or family care — and to strengthen how their practice supports young families day to day.
We work with your team to design sessions that are practical, interactive, and grounded in current evidence. Depending on the expertise of your practice, and what is relevant to your patient cohort, we may send one of our lactation consultants, skin cancer specialists, sleep consultants, occupational therapists, or other providers to provide hands on training and offer practical skills that will benefit your practice and the broader WA community.
