Midwives in Subiaco

Midwives are health professionals in pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period. They work closely with other specialists to ensure continuity of care for mothers throughout their antenatal journey.

Midwives can help facilitate hospital bookings, scans and checks, provide support and advice as expectant mothers prepare for labour and birth. They also monitor the baby’s health throughout pregnancy and their heartbeat during labour, and arrange for pain relief for the mother.

The Clinical Guidance Committee advise Baby Steps on all clinical matters effecting the health practitioners within our centre. It’s members gather together to discuss and develop guidelines relating to:

The COVID Pandemic and adherence to public health regulations
Education and professional development for participating health practitioners
The appropriate response to patient complaints of a clinical nature
Optimal ways to support the health practitioners at Baby Steps

Meetings are held several times a year, or at the request of Baby Steps for specific clinical advice. It is lead by a chairperson and educational coordinator, elected by the group of participating health practitioners.
