Telehealth at Baby Steps
Quality care, wherever you are.
Sometimes it’s hard to get to the clinic. Whether you’re juggling kids, stuck at work, or just prefer to stay home — Telehealth makes it easier to stay on top of your family’s care.
Telehealth allows you to connect with your provider via phone or video for a range of appointment types, from general medical concerns to therapy and follow-up care.
Who can have a Telehealth appointment?
Telehealth is available to everyone.
Phone Appointments
For GP Consultations only
You can book a telephone consult through the AMS Connect app or on our website. A deposit is required when booking, which goes toward your appointment fee.
Here’s how it works:
At the time of your appointment, your GP will call you from a private number (no caller ID).
Make sure your phone is nearby and volume is up.
The call will happen as close to your scheduled time as possible.
Video Appointments
Available for a wider range of services:
- GP Consultations
- Sleep Specialists
- Lactation
- Pregnancy & Postnatal Physiotherapy
- Continence Physiotherapy
- Dietitian
- Occupational Therapy (including handwriting assessments)
- Speech Therapy
- Counselling
- Psychology
- Vasectomy Consultations
You can book your video consult via the AMS Connect app or our website. A deposit is required at the time of booking.
Before your appointment:
You’ll receive a text message with a video link. You can also join directly through the AMS Connect app.
You can enter the video chat 5 minutes before your scheduled time.
Medicare Rebates & Billing
All telehealth consults are billed in line with our usual clinic policy.
To claim a Medicare rebate, you must:
✔ Have had a face-to-face appointment at Baby Steps in the past 12 months unless the patient is under 12 months of age
If you don’t meet these criteria, you’re still welcome to go ahead with your telehealth appointment, but please be aware that you won’t be eligible for a Medicare rebate.
If you’re unsure whether your appointment is eligible for Telehealth, or which format is best for your needs, feel free to contact our reception team — we’re happy to guide you through it.
